American Apparel really know about that ”unisex” thing. Damn well. (English version)

Dearest Vanja helped me with a english translation for my post about the unisex-shirt from American Apparel.

Unisex. UNI and SEX. What’s it really about? According to Wikipedia, the word unisex “refers to things that are suitable for either gender” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unisex 2013-05-14). That’s nice! Something that BOTH women and men can do. Something the two sexes have in common. Like buying a shirt. Maybe a flannel or denim one. And wear it. And where to buy a shirt if not American Apparel? Gorgeous, sweet and especially cool and trendy American Apparel. After surfing around for a while I realize they also sell “unisex-clothing”. Perfect! I log on to their webpage with the word UNISEX dancing around in my mind. It echoes in my ears. Unisex, unisex, unisex.

And there it is. YES! The ultimate shirt. Damn it’s nice. Nice nice nice. I enlarge the photo.

Yupp. It’s the one. It just looks so good – I’m definitely buying it. But hang on. I can’t possibly buy a unisex shirt without checking what it looks like on a woman. Lucky I thought of it before making a huge mistake. My eyes glance around the page, and there... I find it!

No. I think I’ll give this shirt a miss. Cos I kinda think I want to wear pants with it. I’ll probably catch a kidney infection walking around with a bare ass like that before summer. Because it seems as though women can ONLY wear this shirt (ONLY) if they tie it to the front. But if I were a man, well I could have worn this shirt whilst hanging out with my friends, chilling, smoking. Crap. Oh well, I’ll wait.

But I have to be clear. American Apparel really do know their unisex. Damn well.

Från vilken vinkel man än vill se det, och hur många det än är som bojkottar, så är all reklam bra reklam, 100.000 personer har vart in bara på bloggen, det har varit på tv och i metro, dom har synts på varenda sida gratis... Skulle tro deras skjorta är slut i lager nu :)

Bra sammanställt och jämfört. Man förstår också varför man varken passat som vare sig man eller kvinna. Att tappa byxorna är är en mardröm, ,tänk det omvända: strika cowboy-tjejer och uderdåning snubbar med baken bar. Björn Borg-reklamen i Stockholms tunnelbana fick tydligen passera obemäkrt. Man får helt enkelt sluta köpa vissa märket och kicka igång sin symaskin och skapa nåt nytt, värdigt, tufft och snygg, men det är väl 10-åringarna som lär sig hur det ska vara med påklädda män och poserande kvinnor, där för deras skull.

All reklam är bra reklam? Nja, det beror helt på vilka som är osmarta nog att stödja deras sätt. Antingen ska alla vara påklädda och dressade så man ser vad man faktiskt vill köpa, ett klädesplagg, annars så kan alla, oavsett, kön stå och vika ut sig i konstiga ställningar.
